Softball gets conference win





The Prairie Central softball team opened conference play Thursday against Monticello and came home with a 4-2 win.


PC had 5 hits with no errors. Senior Lucy Whitfill hit a solo home run making it her first career home run. Rylee Galloway got a double on the night and Galloway, Whitfill and Dixie Hogan all got one RBI.


Kyah Creek, Hogan, Kyla Stephens and Sam Slagel also got one hit each. Dixie Hogan went the full 7 innings and had 1 walk and 2 strikeouts and gave up six hits.


“We played a solid ball game and kept our heads up to get a huge win,” said PC softball coach Molly Cagley. “It’s nice to start off the conference with a win.”


PC’s softball team’s record is now 4-4.

 


Baseball falls to Monticello:


Prairie Central’s baseball team jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first but Monticello battled back and managed to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth to end up winning 7-5. The Hawks were led offensively by Easton Friedman who had 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Caden Addis went 5 innings giving up 6 hits, 5 runs (2 earned) and struck out 6 while walking 2.
