Prairie Central High School has announced Sam Slagel has signed her Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Concordia University Wisconsin.
Sam has had a remarkable career as a member of the Prairie Central Softball Program. A three-year varsity starter at shortstop, she has been a cornerstone of the team’s success. Despite playing only three seasons, Sam shattered the career home run record, showcasing her power, consistency, and competitive edge.
Throughout her high school career, Sam has earned some of the highest honors available to an Illinois softball player. She is a three-time All-State selection and a three-time All-Conference honoree, further proving her impact and excellence on the field.
Her success is equally impressive off the field. Sam maintains a 4.0 GPA and is actively involved in FFA, where her leadership and commitment stand out. She truly exemplifies the term student-athlete—driven, dedicated, and respected by teammates, coaches, and teachers alike.
"Prairie Central is incredibly proud of Sam’s accomplishments and excited to watch her take the next step in both her education and softball career. Congratulations, Sam!" said a news release from the school.
