Softball, baseball battle IVC

PC softball got an 8-2 win over IVC Monday afternoon but the baseball team fell 5-1 to the Grey Ghosts.

In softball action, Dixie Hogan had a great night in the circle with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks, giving up 7 hits and only 1 earned run. Bats were strong as the Haws had 11 hits.

Sam Slagel went 2-3 at the plate with two solo homeruns and got 2 RBIs on the night. Kyah creek was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Kyrsten Atkins and Rylee Galloway had 2 each with Galloway getting a double on one and an RBI. Lydia Kilgus and Jules Woodrey each had a hit. Kilgus contributed 1 RBI and Woodrey had 2.

Meanwhile, in Hawk baseball, Collin Hartman pitched well, according to PC head baseball coach Gaige Rinkenberger. Overall, the coach reports too many mental mistakes and not enough offense to win as PC fell 5-1 to IVC.

The Hawks scored the lone run in the second.

Though the games were scheduled to be played at home in Fairbury, too much rain fell on the field so the baseball and softball teams traveled to IVC instead.
