Season opens for softball

The Hawk softball team opened its 2024 season Tuesday at Herscher as Prairie Central fell to the Tigers 14-10.

PC may have lost but they out hit the Tigers 12-9. Kyah Creek went 4-4 at bat with a double, Rylee Galloway went 4-1 with a double and Jules Woodrey went 3-2 with a two-run homer. She led the team with four RBIs on the night.

“The team did well battling back,” said PC softball coach Molly Cagley. “We outscored our opponent 6-1 after the third inning and just came up short. The seven errors did not help in the first inning.”

Dixie Hogan had one walk and no strikeouts and gave up 8 of the 9 hits and only four earned runs.
