PC takes 2nd at GCMS




(Hawk players are recognized for receiving 2nd place in the GCMS Thanksgiving Tourney Saturday night)

The Prairie Central boys basketball team is now 3-1 after falling to Lexington in the championship game of the 51st annual GCMS Thanksgiving Tourney Saturday night, 54-47.


Levi Goad, Tyler Curl and Gage Steidinger were all selected to the All-Tournament team. The Hawks now look ahead to their home openers in Fairbury this week as they battle Dwight Tuesday evening and Tri-Valley on Thursday.


The host GCMS Falcons took third in their Thanksgiving Tourney by defeating Hoopeston Area, 53-43.


Meanwhile, the Prairie Central JV team went 2-1 at the Wally Phelps Memorial Classic at Springfield Saturday. The team won its pool play games in the morning before falling in the championship to a tough Litchfield team.

Elsewhere in high school hoops, Pontiac fell to LaSalle-Peru 64-60 in the championship of the Dean Riley Shootin’ the Rock Thanksgiving Tournament at Ottawa.


In the Route 17 Thanksgiving Classic at Woodland School on Saturday, the Earlville Red Raiders won the championship.
