PC cruises to tourney title




Prairie Central battles Iroquois West on Saturday evening at GCMS.

The Prairie Central boys basketball team won the GCMS Thanksgiving Tournament after defeating Iroquois West in the title game Saturday evening 62-47.


Dylan Bazzell led the way with 20 points for the Hawks in the game broadcast live on Fairbury News. Other leading scorers included Camden Palmore with 13, Levi Goad with 10, Drew Haberkorn with 8 and Tyler Curl had 7.


“The story of the night was the defensive effort of our entire team,” said PC Coach Darin Bazzell.


Gibson City Melvin Sibley received third place in their own tournament after defeating Lexington in a close game on Saturday.


Next up for the Hawks is Tuesday’s home opener in Fairbury against Dwight High School at 7 p.m. followed by next Saturday’s road game at Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin at 3:30 p.m.
