It was a happy homecoming for the Prairie Central football team Friday night as the Hawks beat St. Joseph-Ogden by a score of 33-13 at Fairbury.
Corbin Moser had a 10-yard run to put the Hawks up in the first then SJO’s Brayden Weaver scored in the second before a one yard run by Kaden King. No one scored in the third but the fourth quarter was full of action with runs from PC’s Kaden King and Jacob Niffen.
For passing, King had three attempts for the Hawks while SJO’s Crayton Burnett had eight completions, 24 attempts, 151 yards, one interception and one touchdown. PC’s rushing leaders were King, Niffen, Moser, Conner Casner and Dailen Loveless.
Clare Strong had six kickoffs for the Hawks for 207 yards and an average of 34.5. Niffen, Austin Sweich and Moser had kickoff returns while King had four punts for 145 yards and an average of 36.3. Niffen and Kenny Zimmerman had fumble recoveries for PC while Logan Steidinger had an interception.
Total time of possession for PC was 24:33 compared to 23:27 for SJO. PC led the rushing 347-123 and SJO led the passing 151-0. PC had 347 total yards compared to SJO’s 274.
It was a busy night at Prairie Central High School’s Lewis Field as members of the homecoming court were recognized along with the 2003 PC football team.
