Hawks win thriller

Prairie Central’s varsity boys basketball team defeated St. Joe-Ogden in a thriller at Fairbury Friday night.

Trey Bazzell had 33 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks during our featured broadcast game on Fairbury News. Austin Swiech played an amazing defensive game while Andy Krenz and Cooper Palmore controlled the boards. Rylie Vaughan added 11 points for the Hawks.

“A win always feels good especially after losing earlier this week against a good IVC team,” Head Coach Darin Bazzell told Fairbury News afterward. “We came out and played good, hard Hawk defensive basketball.”

Next up is Normal Community at 1 p.m. Saturday at Normal and Hawk players are feeling confident ahead of the game.

“They are a big athletic team and obviously, they are a bigger school than us but I think our kids believe we can go down there and win. I think we can too,” Coach Bazzell added.

Another busy week is in store next week for the varsity boys as they are at Olympia Tuesday and back home against Monticello on Friday before heading to U-High next weekend.
