Hawks off to strong start

The Prairie Central football season is off to a strong start after an opening night win over Rantoul 42-20.


Kaden King passed for 42 yards for the Hawks with one completion and attempt while Rantoul saw Luke Zech pass for 113 yards with 21 attempts and 11 completions. Conner Casner led rushing for Prairie Central followed by King, Dailen Loveless, Corbin Moser, Owen Rafferty and Jacob Niffen.


Cooper Palmore had one reception and four kickoffs. Clare Strong had three kickoffs. For kickoff returns, the Hawks’ leader was Nick Fever followed by Austin Swiech, Logan Steidinger and Tyler Trachsel. Caeden Young had a fumble recovery.


PC rushed for 374 compared to Rantoul’s 213. For passing, PC had 42 versus Rantoul at 140. For total yards, it was PC 416 compared to Rantoul’s 353.
