Hawks defeat Vikings

(Prairie Central's Tyler Curl prepares to take a shot Thursday night in Fairbury)

The Prairie Central boys basketball team moves to 5-1 on the season after defeating Tri-Valley in the second home game of the season Thursday night, 62-36.

Tyler Curl had 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the Hawks. Gage Steidinger and Levi Goad each contributed 11 points while Gavin Tredennick had 7 rebounds.

PC head coach Trevin McCulloh notes his team kept going with the game plan and sticking together.

“Ball movement was terrific,” McCulloh told Fairbury News. “It’s all about defense and we really buckled down this week on getting that right.”

The team is making good adjustments after the first loss last week, according to McCulloh. He considers Tri-Valley a solid team with tremendous offense.

Prairie Central’s JV team improved to 4-1 with a 53-43 win.

PC girls lose close one

Prairie Central’s Lady Hawks basketball team fell short of defeating El Paso-Gridley even though they fought back from being down 16 points at the half.

The final score was 46-48 with EPG coming out on top. Leading Hawk scorer was Jayla Hammond with 17 points while Abi Nimbler had 14.
