The Prairie Central boys basketball team won the Watseka Holiday Tournament Tuesday defeating Cissna Park 53-48.
The Hawk win is attributed to good defense and rebounding. Leading scorers were Trey Bazzell with 26 and Jake Bachtold with 14. Rebounding leaders were Cooper Palmore, Bazzell and Bachtold. Rylie Vaughan and Bazzell were named to the all-tournament team.
Meanwhile, the Prairie Central girls beat Tri-Valley by a score of 64-39. Chloe Sisco and Elly Haberkorn each had 15 points, while Emma Kinkade had 9 and Natalie Graf chipped in 6. Madison Kinkade scored 5, while Becca Conlisk and Emily Wilkey each had 4 and Clare Strong, Danielle Vogel and Katy Curl each had 2.
Fairbury News will have live coverage of PC hoops this weekend as the boys take on PBL Friday night at 7 p.m. Eric Stock and Joel Swanson will have the play-by-play while the girls play Heyworth Saturday morning at 11:30 and Greg Halbleib calls the action.
