Boys & Girls Club update

Photo provided by Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County.

Here are recent happenings for the Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County in the Prairie Central area.

In Fairbury, this week’s program highlight is a health and wellness program provided by Matt Janus from OSF hospital. Matt comes in once a month and runs a program about how the kids can stay healthy or having something to do with the health care industry. This month, he spoke to the kids about careers in health care.

Our member of the week is Faith Fields. Faith is a 5th grader who loves arts and crafts, and spending time in the homework center with her friends. She is a great helper to our staff and is a wonderful role model for our younger members. Our staff highlight this week is Emily Champlain. Emily is the AmeriCorp volunteer at our Chatsworth unit. She is a student at Heartland Community College and is enjoying getting to know the kids and learning our programs.

The Chenoa program highlight this week is an internet research project that Jade introduced to the kids. This week the kids had to research used car prices in their area. They then compared those prices to other areas around the state!

Our member of the week is first grader, Serena Stephens. Serena had a birthday this week so she was an easy choice! She loves to play with her friends in the gym and discover new educational games in the computer lab. She is enthusiastic, energetic and kind.

We are highlighting our Triple Play Mind program in Chatsworth. This program focuses

on nutrition and exercise. Thanks to a generous donation, members are able to learn more about eating healthy with a toy kitchen, food and utensils.

Our member of the week is Gabe Cavazos is 6 years old. Gabe always comes to the Club with a smile on his face ready for a fun time. He loves to play catch with his friends or Ms. Jordan.
