A super weekend coming

By: Irene Wilken

As an unofficial national holiday, big game Sunday calls for lots of preparation.

From buying food and drinks to finding your old jersey to support your team, a lot of work goes into making game day as perfect as possible. Luckily, the Specialty Shops of Fairbury have your back! Head to the Specialty Shops for “super” deals on food, clothing, home décor, furniture, and so much more during the game weekend!

On January 31 st and February 1 st, stock up on snack foods for your party, or head over to one of Fairbury’s clothing boutiques for warm sweaters and outerwear. If you’re looking to buy or sell a house in the approaching real estate season, look no further than the furniture and home-décor specialty shops. This is also a perfect opportunity to prepare for upcoming holidays like Valentine’s Day.

Participating shops in the Super Shopping event include The Country Cupboard, Dave’s Supermarket, Fairbury Fastener & Supply, Fairbury Furniture & WC Market, Heart’s Desire Antiques & Accents, Lost Arts, Nature’s Designs by Tiff, Once ‘n Again, Serendipity Cards & Gifts, Kilgus Farmstead Country Store and The Spotted Owl.

Please visit the Fairbury IL Attractions Facebook page for more details.

An even longer tradition than the big game is the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Livingston Lodge 290’s 71 st Annual Pancakes & Sausage Breakfast. On February 1 from 7 am to 1 pm, stop by the IOOF Lodge for an all-you-can-eat breakfast – only $8 for ages 12 and up, $3 for ages 6-11, and children ages 5 and under eat for free. Bulk and link sausage are available for purchase.

Do you have a story, idea, or suggestion? If so, please contact us by calling (815) 692-4500 or by emailing fairbury@fairburyILattractions.com. To speak with a Specialty Shops representative in person, visit Bobbi McKeon at Heart's Desire on Route 24 in Fairbury.
