Trey Bazzell's last second shot as shown from our video feed Friday.

A last second three-point shot by Trey Bazzell capped an emotional night at Prairie Central High School Friday as the varsity Hawks defeated Monticello 48-46 Friday night in our featured broadcast game on Fairbury News.

The Hawks downed the Sages on the last second fade away three pointer by Bazzell. PC had 10 steals as a team. Tyler Trachsel hit a free throw with 40 seconds to put the Hawks up one while the Sages scored a bucket to move ahead by one with 7.8 seconds left in the game.

Bazzell had 27 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks. Cooper Palmore had 8 rebounds to go with three points and Austin Swiech had 6.

“Obviously, I’m proud of my kids. That was awesome to see,” PC head coach Darin Bazzell told Fairbury News after the game.

The victory celebration continued into the locker room.

“Everyone was jumping around and it was fun,” Coach Bazzell said. “It’s fun to see them smiling and having a good time.”

Prior to the game, senior parent Chuck Vaughan made a presentation honoring all of the basketball coaches.

“As parents of senior boys and our senior players, we would like to honor all coaches for their commitment to our program and especially to our sons,” Vaughan said.

Also, longtime Hawk fans – or super fans as some may call them – Jerry and Donna Holland were presented with an autographed ball from the team.

Derek Kessinger was on the call for Fairbury News for this exciting basketball game.
