The inaugural Illini Prairie vs. Sangamon conference crossover was a success for the Prairie Central boys basketball team as they defeated Class 2A top 10 team Riverton 63-62 in a thriller at Tolono.

PC now has 20 wins on the season for the first time since 2005. Great defensive pressure got to Riverton in the fourth quarter. Payton Dunahee hit a three with just 1.5 seconds left on a nice assist from Trey Bazzell. Cooper Palmore drew a charge late in the game when the Hawks were down 4 to get the ball back.

Bazzell led the Hawk scoring with 18, followed by Jake Bachtold with 14 and Logan Goad had 10.
