10 wins for the Hawks

The Prairie Central boys basketball team heads into Christmas with another win.

PC defeated Peoria Christian in a non-conference matchup in Fairbury Tuesday night, 76-67 and improves to 10-2 on the season. Tyler Curl had 24 points, Gage Steidinger had 18 and Levi Goad contributed 16 to lead the scoring.

“We got our tenth win on the year before Christmas so I’ll take that,” Hawk head coach Trevin McCulloh told Fairbury News after the game.

The Hawks took back control of the game after Peoria Christian went on a roll. They had plenty of good shooters and both teams like to run. Prairie Central scored an impressive 45 points in the second half. The home team never looked back.

“If we defend well, we can get out and transition and run,” added McCulloh.

McCulloh has noticed really good chemistry on the offensive end with Goad and Gage Steidinger under the basket. The team has started clicking a bit more ever since late in the U-High game and they are still building on that.

The Williamsville Holiday Tournament is up next for the Hawks next week as they are the four seed and will battle Roanoke Benson at noon Wednesday in the opening round. We will have the coverage on Fairbury News all week.
