Festive fun returns to Fairbury this weekend during the 2022 Christmas Parade sponsored by the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce.

The parade steps off at 11:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 3) traveling through downtown Fairbury and we will have the live parade broadcast looking down on Locust Street from Old City Hall on Fairbury News.

“I’m pretty excited to see some of the creativity,” admits Fairbury Chamber President Seth Welch.

Santa is a popular part of the parade as children can catch a glimpse of the man in the red suit before visiting with him at the VFW after the parade until 1 p.m.

“He’s actually going to be riding through the parade in a horse and carriage and once he gets dropped off at the VFW, he’ll be there to take lists from the kids,” added Welch.

This year’s Fairbury Christmas Court includes: Blake Duncan, Easton Stork, Leo Preger, Rylee Maurer, Adeline Potter and Addilyn Dunn. The kids will be in Saturday’s parade.

In addition to the parade, the First Methodist Church of Fairbury will have a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 to 1 p.m. with a bake sale. The VFW Auxiliary will serve breakfast of scrambled eggs, pancakes and sausage, biscuits and gravy and baked goods from 7 to 11 a.m. Country Cupboard will have an open house with live music 1 to 2 p.m.

Fairbury Echoes Museum presents an exhibit called “School Memories” open from 9 to 11 a.m. Coffee Steamer will have free hot chocolate and cookies while supplies last in front of Fairbury Furniture. PCHS Madrigals perform at Dominy Memorial Library at 1 p.m. and horse and carriage rides will be offered downtown until 1 p.m. sponsored by Bluestem Bank, branch of Bank of Pontiac (following Santa’s arrival to the VFW).

“We are very grateful to our membership and the sponsors of this event for allowing us to make it happen,” concluded Welch.

Saturday’s Fairbury Christmas Parade will be broadcast live on WGCY 106.3 FM and the Fairbury News Facebook page at 11:30 a.m. Kent Casson and Mike Norris will be upstairs at Old City Hall bringing listeners and viewers the live coverage.
