PCHS to host ceremony

Prairie Central High School will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Festivities begin at 1:45 pm with a free ice cream social for all veterans, active military and their families located in the school cafeteria. The ice cream social will be immediately followed by the Veterans Day Ceremony at 2:30 pm located in the school gymnasium.
This year’s presenters include members of Fairbury VFW post #9789, Fairbury American legion John Joda Post #54, Illinois State Representative Jason Bunting of the 106th legislative district, Illinois State Senator Chris Balkema of the 53rd district, and Lee Reinhart a veteran of the US Navy and US Coast Guard.
The high school band will perform musical selections and VFW’s Voice of Democracy participants will be announced. A traditional presentation of colors and playing of Taps will also be performed. Members of the Fairbury VFW post #9789 and Fairbury American Legion John Joda Post #54 color guard will participate in the ceremony.
The ceremony is open to all veterans, active military, their families, community members, and general public. Prairie Central High School is located at 411 North Seventh Street Fairbury, Illinois. Visitors should enter through the seventh street entrances on the south end of the gymnasium.
