DWIGHT – A single-vehicle accident in rural Livingston County claimed the life of a nine-year-old this week.
Coroner Danny Watson reports the driver of a white Chevy Tahoe lost control of the vehicle on an icy road and went into the ditch, ending up on its left side. The child victim, Nathan R. Gast of Reddick, died as a result of the wreck on Route 17 west of Dwight in Round Grove Township.
Agencies assisting at the scene included Dwight Fire and Police, Dwight Ambulance, Limestone and Riverside Ambulances, Livingston County Sheriff’s Police, State Police, State Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Livingston County Coroner’s Office.
The accident was reported to Vermilion E911 Dispatch at 4:42 p.m. Thursday.
