An impressive line of cars paraded through the circle drive of Prairie Central Elementary in Fairbury Thursday afternoon at a time when most school parking lots are deserted.
The Teacher Appreciation Parade was organized to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. PCE staff brought lawn chairs and sat along the sidewalk while maintaining social distancing. Students and their families drove through to display signs, honk and wave in appreciation of their teachers.
This also gave students and teachers the chance to catch-up in person – even if it was through a car window. Those participating in the parade were asked to stay in their vehicle due to the current situation.
