Stores adapt to situation

Grocery items from Dave's Supermarket.

Grocery stores such as our own Dave’s Supermarket in Fairbury continue to provide for us in these trying times.

Many industries continue to respond to the evolving COVID-19 situation. Dave’s put a message out to customers over the weekend that the new store hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“In an effort to adequately staff our store, re-stock and maintain the highest level cleanliness and sanitation, we will be closing two hours early beginning Monday, March 23 until further notice,” the business said.

Customers are reminded to reserve the 7-8 a.m. time slot for those shoppers who are at a higher risk of severe illness which includes older adults and those with compromised immune systems. The use of reusable bags has been temporarily suspended at Dave’s and they ask guests to avoid using cash as a payment when applicable.

Americans are realizing the importance of a stable food supply, especially these days. Appropriately enough, Tuesday is National Ag Day which recognizes our nation's farmers for growing a safe, affordable supply of food.
