STM rallies over Lady Hawks

(The ball goes up against STM at a game played at PCHS Thursday night)

Despite being tied heading into the fourth quarter, the Prairie Central girls basketball team fell to St. Thomas More 36-25 in a game carried live on Fairbury News Thursday at PCHS.

The Hawks looked good throughout the game with strong defense and some nice three-pointers early to get in the scoring books.

“We were right there for three quarters,” said head coach Gabby Zeedyk after the game. “They handled the pressure all game long then right there at the very end it was just a little bit too much.”

Though it has been a tough start to the season for the Lady Hawks, Coach Zeedyk believes it is preparing the team for the second half of the season heading through the conference games and eventually, regionals.

“They’re making huge strides in the right direction.”

The Ottawa Holiday Tournament is coming up for the Prairie Central girls.

Jeff Curl called the play-by-play action of Thursday evening's game live on Fairbury News.
