Rotary receives FFA update

(Becky Freed, Ellie Ellis, Adri Cottrell, Hannah Miller, Grace Lemenager, Kamber Kilgus, Lily Schaffer & Mya Roth talk to Fairbury Rotary this week in the basement of Dominy Library)

Several members of the Prairie Central FFA chapter addressed the Fairbury Rotary Club this week.

They recapped National FFA Week which included decorations at school, milk chugging contest and FFA member lunch. The 43rd annual Farm and Home Show was last Saturday at the Prairie Central Upper Elementary in Forrest with every booth full. Plus, there were 10 new exhibitors and over 500 meals were sold by the alumni.

The annual Prairie Central FFA Hog Roast and Auction is coming on Thursday March 21 with the free meal served from 4 to 6:30 and the live auction starting at 6:30. There will also be a silent auction once again this year.

Grace Lemenager and Ellie Drach interviewed for their State FFA Degrees. Lemenager was Star Placement and Drach was Star Farmer.

Nine people competed at Section for their proficiency book and eight will compete at district with their records.

The PC chapter once again had great success last fall at nationals. The winning Ag Sales team had to sell corn and soybeans and was given certain varieties to learn about. They also had to handle a customer complaint which is new.
