An armed robbery at the Fairbury Casey’s General Store remains under investigation and the search is underway for the male suspect involved.
Fairbury Police report a man entered Casey’s shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, displaying a two-tone handgun and demanding money from the store clerk. Prior to fleeing on foot, the man removed cash from a register along with several packs of Newport cigarettes, according to authorities.
“The responding officer arrived at the store within three minutes but was unable to locate the suspect,” said a post on the Fairbury Police Department Facebook page Sunday morning.
Agencies assisting the Fairbury Police Department included: Livingston County Sheriff’s Police, Livingston County Sheriff K-9 unit, State Police and a State Police Crime Scene Technician.
Some took to social media over the weekend to discuss the situation. Gig's Place posted information saying their doors were locked for the safety of employees and customers on Saturday evening.
