This ditch south of town along First Street was full of water Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall which started early Monday in Fairbury really never let up and continues to collect on already saturated soil.

The rain is causing a headache for farmers who cannot get out into the fields to plant this year's corn and soybean crops. According to reports on social media, some Fairbury residents woke up to flooded basements Wednesday morning after around two inches of rain fell the night before.

Nearby towns have it much worse as Ridgeview was forced to cancel classes Wednesday due to flooded streets in Colfax and the inability of the village's sewer system to keep up. Flanagan-Cornell also called off school for students. Prairie Central stayed in session, however.
