Residents of Fairbury and surrounding locations now have another option for local information and sports coverage, in addition to FairburyNews.net.

Casson Media has purchased local radio station 93.7 FM, now known as Route 24 Radio, with the call letters of WPOK. The station is licensed to Pontiac and has a strong reach throughout all of Central Illinois.

This is an expansion of the current Route 24 Radio online radio programming which adds the over-the-air component for shows such as the Route 24 Radio Forum weekdays at 9 a.m. along with morning and midday shows, live remotes, sports shows, high school sports broadcasts and 24/7 music programming.

“Our sound will really stand out and we are glad to provide listeners with a source of local information for Central Illinois,” said Kent Casson, owner of Casson Media. “Come fall, we will spotlight high school sports broadcasts on the station as part of our growing Casson Media High School Sports Network.”

The call letters of WPOK for the new 93.7 FM are a throwback to the old radio days in Livingston County as WPOK was Pontiac’s original radio station, formerly located on the AM dial.

Being on 93.7 FM is nothing new for Casson as that is where he got his start in radio almost 30 years ago, working his way up to news director in the early 2000s while also working for various aspects of the programming department.

“We are taking local radio to a whole new level,” he explains. “I grew up listening to and working for local stations so this is a dream come true.”
