Community members celebrated the opening of Fairbury Pharmacy with a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration Tuesday afternoon.

Owner and pharmacist Rob Taveggia, who also runs Chenoa Pharmacy, opened the new location in the former Randall’s Liquors location along Route 24. State Representative Dan Brady joked that he and Taveggia started the process of trying to get state licensing when they both had hair.

“He didn’t let government wear him down,” Brady said. “He did a great job and stood the test of time.”

Brady considers the new business a great asset to the community and presented a resolution on behalf of the Illinois House of Representatives of the 102nd General Assembly, acknowledging and celebrating the pharmacy.

“Thanks everybody for showing up,” Taveggia stated. “Thanks especially to my staff at Chenoa Pharmacy for allowing me to do this and expand.”

Taveggia also thanked his brother for making the trip and his good friends and girlfriend for their support. He also expressed appreciation to Fairbury Mayor David Slagel for his efforts.

“We look forward to helping the community. It’s been so encouraging, everybody rallying around this.”

Those attending the grand opening were able to look around the business and enjoy refreshments while mingling with others.

The full-service pharmacy, at 501 West Oak Street, provides various pharmacy services and local delivery to a large area. The business can be reached at 815-692-1250. Fairbury Pharmacy can also be found on Facebook.

Business hours are Monday through Friday 9-6, Saturday 9-12 and closed on Sundays.
