Joann M. Scurlock, 88, of Fairbury, passed away at 2:00 am, January 12, 2026, at her residence.
Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, January 16, 2026, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Fr. Scott Archer will be officiating. Inurnment will be in Avoca Township Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 am, Friday, January 16, 2026, also at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or St. Andrew’s Catholic Parish, Fairbury.
Joann was born April 11, 1937, in Michigan City, IN the daughter of Walter and Anna Murphy Knoll. Joann was raised by her mother and step-father, Frank Walters. Â She married George Edward Scurlock on November 19, 1954 in Michigan City, IN. He died September 2, 1980.
Surviving are her children, Denise (Tom) Doran, Brenda Travis, Carol Meints, Kenny (Judy) Scurlock, Tammy (Ernie) Meister all of Fairbury, and Robyn (Mike) Ward of Camdenton MO; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her cousin who was raised with Joann, Janice Adams of AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Gale Sowers; son-in-law, Martin Travis and granddaughter, Morgan Ward; and two brothers.
Joann worked at Steidinger Dress Factory and later worked as a CNA at Fairbury Hospital.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Parish, Fairbury.
