Larry S. Ryan, 79, Sunrise Beach, MO died at 9:15 am Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at his residence.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am Monday, May 20, 2024 at the Forrest United Methodist Church with a funeral service at 11:00am. Pastor Terri Haase will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Twp. Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Compassus Hospice, 5780 Osage Beach Pkwy, Suite 230, Osage Beach, MO 65065, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Mr. Ryan was born September 30, 1944 in Fairbury, IL the son of Earl and Wilma Bracken Ryan. He married Vicky Metz on November 10, 1963 in Forrest. She survives in Sunrise Beach, MO.
Other survivors include three sons, Michael (Debra) Ryan, Algonquin, IL, Derek (Micaela) Ryan, Kankakee, IL, Wade (Dawn) Ryan, Bourbonnais, IL; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Ryan, Fairbury, brother-in-law, Don E. (Sharon) Metz, Florida, five nephews and one niece.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leslie, and Ronnie and one sister, Gloria, infant niece, Sheila and nephew, Shawn.
Mr. Ryan was a 1963 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School and had been employed as a Conductor for Conrail Railroad retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurie, MO.
Mr. Ryan was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren, who he loved watching all their activities.
