Obituary: Nussbaum

Carol Beth Nussbaum, age 89, of Fairbury, went home to heaven on Friday, March 15, 2024.

Carol was born April 1, 1934, in Forrest Township, into the family of Ira Isaac and Leona Esther Abersoll Nussbaum.  Ira and Leona consistently took their children to church and Sunday school, introducing them to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which shaped the course of Carols life.

Survivors include one sister, Doris Mae Huber, (Robert, dec.), Bloomington; one sister-in-law Janice E. Nussbaum (Byron, dec.) and 23 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Alden, Willis, Dean, Wayne, infant brother Glen Robert, and Byron; and two sisters, Leona and Janice.

Carol graduated from Fairbury-Cropsey High School. She was employed as a secretary at Honegger’s in Fairbury for many years, after which she was a legal secretary, employed for many years by Attorney Harvey S. Traub and his successors.  She enjoyed legal work and gained much knowledge in that field.

She traveled extensively with two sisters and other friends in the States, Canada, and Europe.  Other interests included a lifelong love of singing and spending time with family.  She appreciated the love and closeness shared by her family.   She, and two other sisters, (fondly called “The Aunts,”) invested time in their family, nieces, and nephews creating wonderful Christmas and family meals and memories.

She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Bloomington-Normal and loved the fellowship of her church along with the appreciation of family love. She will be greatly missed by both family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Bloomington-Normal Apostolic Christian Church, with the Ministers of the church officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service on Monday.  Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Graceland, Fairbury.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials can be made to B/N Apostolic Christian Church or Fairview Haven, Fairbury.
