Ruth was born on April 22, 1935 in rural Forrest, the daughter of Ludwig and Persida (Honegger) Metz. She is survived by one brother, Ben (Miriam) Metz of Francesville, IN, and two sisters-in-law, Carol Metz of Houston, TX, and Betty Metz of Salem, OR, as well as 20 nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Emil, David, William, Arthur, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Lavern Johnson, Esther and Earl Gerber, and one nephew Steve Johnson.
Ruth worked many years at Honegger’s Hatcheries, Data Control and Bank of Fairbury. She also took special care of her mother who had dementia and her brother David, who had Muscular Dystrophy, until they needed further care.
Ruth gave her life to the Lord at the age of 16 and has been a member of the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church. Ruth was blessed to enjoy a 90th birthday gathering with her brother and two sisters-in-law and most of her nieces and nephews 2 ½ weeks before she passed away.
Ruth had Parkinson’s and spent her last years at Fairview Haven. The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview Haven for the love and care for Ruth. They treated her like family! Also special thanks to OSF Hospice for their extra support for Ruth and us family in her last few days.
