Obituary: Meiss






Allan Meiss, 49, of Fairbury, passed away at 2:46pm, December 22, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.


His funeral will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury, where Allan attended. Pastor Alan Willadsen will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.


Visitation will be held from 2-8:00pm, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, also at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury and 1-1:45pm, Thursday at the church.


Memorials may be made to SELCAS or the donor’s choice of charity.


Allan was born May 12, 1974, in Fairbury, the son of Carlos and Jane (Metzger) Meiss. They survive in Fairbury.


Also surviving are his siblings, Renae (Jim) Waldbeser of Fairbury, Dawn Meiss of Fairbury, Kara (Bryan) Stoller of Chenoa, his twin brother, Aaron (Bethany) Meiss of Fairbury, and Kevin and (Kati) Meiss of Fairbury; 17 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

Allan enjoyed his job at State Farm on the Catastrophie Team and was able to travel many places with this employment. He loved farming with his dad and brothers.


Allan loved his friends and family. He was a special person with a huge heart for others. He enjoyed reaching out to those around him. Allan was a patient teacher helping nieces and nephews with many projects. He also helped many family and friends with home improvement projects. 


Allan looked forward to his time with friends, going to the Fairbury American Legion Speedway, Hawks basketball games and go-carting.
