Gladys L. Koehl, 100, Fairbury, died at 8:33 am Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest with Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial will be in the South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Wednesday at the church.
The family suggests memorials be given to SELCAS, Fairview Haven Retirement Community, both in Fairbury or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Mrs. Koehl was born December 9, 1923 in Peoria, IL the daughter of Alphia and Clara Heinold Maurer. She married Virgil Monroe Koehl on March 21, 1948 in Forrest, IL. They farmed together in the Cropsey area for many years. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha (Charles) Albritton, Hudson, Mary (Ben) Daily, Towanda, three sons, James (Diane) Koehl, Cropsey, Jerry (Tami) Koehl, Bloomington and Joseph (Marie) Koehl, Tucson, AZ; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and two brothers, Howard Maurer, Scottsdale, AZ, and Larry (Becky) Maurer, Glendale, AZ.
She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Jo, two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Koehl was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest. She enjoyed gathering with her friends in the Sewing Circle for many years. She loved listening to music and singings.
