Marilyn Kiper, 83, Fairbury, died at 12:39 am Monday, July 15, 2019 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury with Pastor Corinne Blissard officiating. Burial will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 9 to 10:45 am, Wednesday, July 17, 2019 prior to the service at the church in Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be directed to the Fairview Haven Retirement Community or Trinity Lutheran Church both of Fairbury.
Mrs. Kiper was born November 20, 1935 in Ottawa; the daughter of Reinhart George and Margaret Elizabeth (Lenz) Hornecker. She married Boyd Randall Kiper on September 12, 1959 in Ottawa. Her husband, Randall preceded her in death on November 21, 2013. Her parents, and one son, Timothy Randall Kiper also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Tim (Darcie) Kiper, Bloomington; one daughter, Gail (Brad) Gulliford, Forrest; five grandchildren, Derrick, Mitchell and Natalie Gulliford, Ryan and Kyle Kiper.
Mrs. Kiper was a 1953 graduate of Ottawa High School. She began working as an IBM Punch Operator for Libbey-Owens-Ford in Ottawa. She later worked as a florist for Kaisner’s Greenhouse in Fairbury. Along with her husband Randall, she co-owned and operated Randall’s Liquor in Fairbury for many years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury, where she taught Sunday School and was involved in the Church Choir and Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved being surrounded by her grandchildren. Her quiet demeanor and compassionate heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
