Joanne Harn, 97, formerly of Forrest, passed away at 2:34 am, May 11, 2025, at Snyder Village Health Care Center, Metamora.Cremation has been accorded. 


A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, May 16, 2025, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Pastor Deb Honegger will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.


Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am on Friday also at the funeral home.


Memorials may be made to Forrest Public Library.


Joanne was born February 20, 1928, in Chicago, the daughter of Mark and Geneva (Travis) Hanna. She married Clarence Harn on June 12, 1948. He died November 17, 2004.


Surviving are her children, Dennis (Carol) Harn of Dunlap, Bill (Monica) Harn of West Jefferson, NC, and Diane Harn of Sycamore; grandchildren, Carrie (Brian) Alban, Adam Harn, Andy (Alana) Harn, Tony (Elizabeth) Harn, Jennifer (Matt) Vance, Mary (Brett) Paye, Ashley (Marc) Barnett, Michael (Susanna) Harn, Mark (Kerry) Kronenberg, and Heather (Dan) Kronenberg; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother Dave (Fran) Hanna of Punta Gorda, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.


Joanne graduated with a bachelor of science in education from Illinois State University. She retired in 1994 from teaching 1st and 3rd grades at Strawn and Meadowbrook Grade Schools.


After retirement she enjoyed continuing her love of teaching and reading by working at the Forrest Public Library.


She was a member of the Forrest United Methodist Church and Illinois Educator Association.
