William K. Cox, 86, of Fairbury, passed away on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at his home in Fairbury.


Cremation rites have been accorded. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.


Memorial donations in Bill’s name can be made to the Donor’s Choice.


Bill was born on November 15th, 1938 in Cropsey, IL, the son of Hartzel and Margaret (Elliott) Cox. He married Denice Arnold on December 20th, 2000, in their home that he built. She survives in Fairbury. 


Bill is survived by his daughter Amy Hagi, of Streator; son Gregg (Janice) Cox, of Trenton; step-daughter Christie (David) Trenor, of Streator; and sister Phyliss Doran, of Bloomington. He is also survived by his 6 grandkids: Ben, Holly, Abraham, William, Violet, and Nolan. 

He is preceded in death by his brother, Darin. 


Bill was a graduate of Illinois State University, where he attained two Masters Degrees in Education. He taught at Streator High School for most of his career. Bill loved collecting antiques and tools. He and Denice often traveled to antique shows. He was an active member of the Midwest Tool Collectors Association. Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandkids whom he loved very much.
