Obituary: Barnes





Ronald F. Barnes - It's with heavy hearts that the family of Ronald Floyd Barnes announce his passing on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 in St. Petersburg, FL.


Graveside services with military rites will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.


Ron was born January 30, 1942 in Bloomington, IL; son of Floyd and Geneva Barnes. He married Patricia Wiser on November 19, 1966 in Fairbury. His wife Pat, survives in St. Petersburg, FL.


Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly, sons, Lee (Marti) of Miramar Beach, FL; and Brent (Janet Hardesty) of Fairbury; six grandchildren, Brittani, Jake, Ryan, Dolan, Liam and Isabel; three great-grandchildren, Bella, Georgia and Pearl.  Sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce Barnes, Peg & Gary Skinner, Herb & Janet Wiser and Jack & Patty Wiser and many nieces and nephews (Uncle Ronnie to them).


He was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Scott Barnes, his parents, two sisters, two brothers, two nieces and one nephew.


Ron was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky.  Ron's life touched so many people.  He was quick with a joke, then had a quick mischievous smile.  He never met a stranger. Ron loved talking to people and was generous with his time in helping others.  He had an easy ability to sit in a quiet spot and just enjoy.  He valued his family most of all and loved them each and every day.  He will be missed.
