Obituary: Abel





Anna M. Abel, 86, Bloomington, passed away at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. A private family service will be held at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. 


Anna was born August 12, 1937, in Gibson City, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Maude Johnson. She married Lester Abel, her husband of 53 years, on August 14, 1955, in Gibson City. He precedes her in death. 


Anna is survived by Laurie (Steve) Beyer, Shawna (John Seamon) Wenger, and Jeff (Micki) Abel. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kristi (Jacob) Brennan, McKay (Kelsey) Wenger, Malaney Abel, Madison (Chet) Hoehn, Jack Abel, Scott Beyer, Daniel Beyer, and Faithe Wenger, as well as three great-grandchildren, Lilly Ann Brennan, Wyler Wenger, and Wrynn Wenger. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Eileen Abel, and three nieces, Jackie Fenton, Geri Abel, and Jodie Scogins. 


She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, one daughter, Sue Ann Fojtik, a brother, Ray Johnson, and two sisters, Esther and Helen Johnson.


Anna was raised in Gibson City, IL, and graduated from Gibson City High School. She was employed for many years as an Executive Secretary at Honegger's & Co. in Fairbury, as well as First of America Bank and Bank of Pontiac until her retirement.
