Livingston County Clerk and Recorder Kristy Masching's office has issued a notice to registered voters in the county.
Due to concerns over COVID-19, a new law known as SB 1863 has been enacted through the state legislature for the November 3, 2020 election only. The bill states that each election authority in Illinois must send each person that voted in the 2018 General Election, 2019 Consolidated Election or 2020 Primary Election an application to vote by mail.
Livingston County will send an application to all registered voters in the county. If you are registered, you should automatically receive the Vote by Mail application that is to be mailed no later than Aug. 1 in postcard form.
“You are not required to vote by mail but this gives you the opportunity if you choose to,” says a news release from the office.
As with any election, all registered voters have the following options: voting at your polling place Nov. 3, voting early in the clerk’s office Sept. 24-Nov. 2 or voting by mail with applications made now through Oct. 29.
