The annual Prairie Dirt Classic over the summer isn’t the only race at Fairbury Speedway drawing countless campers and race fans to town.

This weekend’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series “FALS Spring Shootout” is arguably the second biggest show of the year at the track and camping is sold out.

“It couldn’t come at a better time with the weather turning,” said Fairbury Speedway owner and promoter Matt Curl. “It’s absolutely gorgeous this weekend.”

Race teams and fans from all over the country are in Fairbury for the $30,000 to win event Saturday night.  This is one race fans circled on their calendar a long time ago.

“I know the town is excited and the race teams are excited to get to race in Fairbury again,” adds Curl.

During spring season preparations, the Fairbury Speedway team battled weather and cold temperatures like everyone else but they had some good weather days, too.

“The track is in perfect condition to lead off our season here and we should have nothing but good racing from here on out.”

Plenty of great racing is planned all season long. Check out the race schedule and more at www.fairburyspeedway.com.
