New picnic tables were assembled in Cropsey this week thanks to efforts of the Fairbury Rotary and Cropsey Area Community Fund.

CACF was established in 2017 with a mission to improve the quality of life in Cropsey and Belle Prairie Township.

The Fairbury Rotary Club chose to submit a grant application in support of the fund and the grant was written to assist in the purchase of handicapped-accessible picnic tables for a newly constructed picnic shelter in the new park area.

Fairbury Rotary’s district offers clubs the chance to apply for a grant of up to $2,000 each year in support of their community in one of seven focus areas which include: peacebuilding and conflict prevention, disease prevention and treatment, water sanitation and hygiene, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, community economic development or supporting the environment. The club was awarded $2,000 to assist in purchasing the tables.

Funds for district grants come from donations Rotarians make to the Rotary Foundation.

The Cropsey park also contains a newly-built playground structure and will soon have a dual-purpose basketball and pickleball court. A handicapped-accessible toilet will also be added near the shelter.
