A new president has been chosen for the Prairie Central Board of Education following a special reorganizational meeting Thursday evening in Fairbury.
John Wilken was elected to lead the board while Tim McGreal is vice-president and Dana Kafer is secretary. New members Brad Duncan and Ben Stoller were seated at the meeting.
“I’m excited to help out, especially since my kids are in school and try to go through this process and learn as much as I can,” said Duncan following the meeting.
“It’s a great place, just want to uphold what we have, keep moving forward and do what we can to do our part,” said Stoller.
Superintendent Paula Crane administered the oath to members which the new board president signs. Crane read the certification of the April 4 election results from Livingston County Clerk and Recorder Kristy Masching.
The only official business during Thursday’s special meeting was to approve the board meeting calendar for 2023-24. Meetings will continue to be held the third Thursday of each month except in November when the school board conference occurs.
