National “Take Your Child to the Library” day on Saturday allowed visitors to Fairbury’s Dominy Memorial Library to also meet the new director.
Ashley Lewis previously worked at Dominy as the head circulation clerk since May before moving up to the director position. Lewis had worked in the printing industry for 12 years before that.
“I’m very excited to serve the community and see what we can do to expand everything,” said Lewis.
During the special day Saturday, children participated in a book scavenger hunt, enjoyed refreshments and also signed-up to get their very own library card.
Upcoming programs at Dominy Memorial Library include “Presidential Marriages and Romances” on Saturday (Feb. 11) starting at 10 a.m. with historian Tom Emery in the White Community Room. It is a free event with no registration needed. Light refreshments will be offered.
Dale Maley is planning a wooden toy workshop at the library next month where kids can take home their very own wooden robot. Be watching for more information.
