Icy conditions lead to crash




A fatal crash between a semi-tractor trailer and automobile Friday night south of Saunemin was likely caused by icy road conditions, according to the Livingston County Coroner’s office.


Laurette B. Tillman of Aurora, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene and was reportedly ejected from her vehicle on impact. The crash on Route 47 just south of Livingston County Road 1500 North was reported to emergency dispatchers at 7:35 p.m.


Responding agencies included fire departments from Saunemin, Forrest, Cullom and Pontiac along with SELCAS ambulance, OSF Life Flight, State Police District 6, Livingston County Sheriff and Livingston County Coroner’s office. The agencies were assisted by Vermilion Valley E-911 Dispatch Center personnel.


The fatal crash remains under investigation by a State Police accident reconstruction team and the coroner’s office. An autopsy has been ordered.
