Firefighters from numerous area departments responded to a structure fire at Ace Plastics in Chatsworth Thursday morning.
Crews were called to the corner of 3350 Road and Route 24 on the south end of town as smoke was showing through the roof of the building when the fire was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m.
“Upon arrival, there was smoke exhausting through the roof and sides of the building, but no fire in the roof,” Chatsworth Fire Chief Zach Gerdes told Fairbury News.
A belt conveyor machine was on fire inside the building which caused the area to fill with smoke. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire with no spread and responding units helped with water, extinguishing and ventilation.
No estimate was provided although there was machine damage and smoke damage on the nearby ceiling.
Responding departments included Piper City, Forrest-Strawn-Wing, Fairbury, Cullom, Roberts-Melvin and SELCAS.
