City approves requests




The Fairbury City Council approved the Consent Agenda, including the last meeting minutes, financial reports, police reports, and sidewalk requests during its regular meeting Wednesday night.


Superintendent Brett Ashburn reported the street work by the Busey Bank building is now completed.


The Council voted to appoint Cory Cottrell to fill John Gavin's position on the Zoning Board of Appeals.


The Council also approved a request from Linda Fagan and Darren Kerrins to use the gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park for their wedding at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29. The wedding party will park by the VFW building, and the reception will also be at the VFW.


A request from the Prairie Central Cheerleaders to host a "Party in the Park" at North Park on Saturday, October 15th, from 1 to 3 p.m. was approved.


The Council also voted to donate the same amount of money as last year to Fairview Haven's Harvest of Sharing 36th Annual Benefit Supper.


It was also announced there would be a Livingston County E-Recycling Event on Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the old K-Mart parking lot in Pontiac. Acceptable items include computer-related items like monitors, televisions, keyboards, cell phones, tablets, speakers, and printers. Things that will not be accepted include home appliances, microwaves, refrigerators, ovens, and AC units. Questions about the event can be answered by calling Jesse King at 815-844-7741.


The Greater Livingston County Economic Development Council will hold its annual dinner at the Pontiac Elks Lodge at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1st. Jerry Hoffman, Fairbury City Council Alderman and President of Technical Metals will be one of the featured speakers at this event.
