Chamber program a success

Heart's Desire is shown along Route 24 in Fairbury, one of the businesses benefiting from a Chamber program this week.

A gift card program through the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce was a big success.

Information provided by the FACOC indicates the community purchased $25,254 worth of gift cards at local businesses. With the chamber’s match program, $50,530 went into the Prairie Central area economy and helped those businesses deemed non-essential during COVID-19.

Through the buy a gift card, get one free program, people could purchase a gift card or gift certificate from a chamber business, take a picture of the receipt and e-mail information to the chamber. The chamber then purchased the same gift card for the same amount from the same business and mailed it to the individual.

These businesses donated to the program:

-Fairbury Chamber

-Compass Insurance

-First State Bank of Forrest

-Leman Builders, Inc.

-Pheasant Ridge Landscaping/F&R Lawn Care

-Dimond Brothers

-Dave's Supermarket

-Bank of Pontiac
