For an old ice cream shop vibe with delicious offerings, make a stop at Catton’s Creamery in downtown Fairbury.
The business just marked its fifth anniversary and continues to grow.
“We started just doing scoops and a few flavors,” recalls owner Derick Catton.
When the business first opened, they had eight ice cream flavors and are now up to 70. Catton’s ice cream can also be found in 17 grocery stores throughout Central Illinois including Champaign, Bloomington, Pontiac, Fairbury and Chatsworth.
“I would have thought one or two stores and that would have been it,” admits Catton.
Catton said more of their business actually comes from the grocery store side nowadays when compared to the downtown store.
Signature ice cream flavors at Catton’s include vanilla honey and monster brownie, which is a best seller. Caramel crunch is another big one along with cookie dough, lava cake, mint chip and the unicorn flavor – which is a kid favorite.
“We also make unique ones like peanut butter and jelly and I’m working on a jalapeño chocolate flavor.”
In addition to visiting Catton’s Creamery at 214 East Locust in downtown Fairbury and your local grocery store, you can also find the ice cream at the Fairbury Speedway each Saturday night during the racing season.
Follow Catton’s Creamery on Facebook and Instagram. They can also be found on Google Maps.
