Car wash helps softball team

Coach McGuire, right, and members of the PC softball team wash a car in Fairbury on Saturday.

A car wash fundraiser for the Prairie Central High School softball team saw plenty of cars and great weather on Saturday.

The event, held at the All American Wash west location, helped raise funds for the trip the team takes in March.

“We try to raise as much as we can so that way it costs the kids and families less, plus it’s good for the community,” said Tim McGuire, PCHS softball coach. “It promotes softball in our district – not only for the high school kids but the younger kids too.”

The team already washed more than 30 cars less than an hour into the event. McGuire is looking forward to another good season and hopes to see plenty of people come out to the games when the weather breaks in March.

Softball players Anna Hale and Gabby Nagel both like the bonding experience and how everyone works together. Heidi Meister took turns holding signs by the road and spraying cars.

“It’s just good to be out here with the team,” Meister said.

“I think it will be a good turnout and it’s kind of a unique thing for teams to do other than selling stuff,” added Brianna Seeman.

Kylie Bazzell appreciates everyone stopping by to get their cars cleaned for a great cause.

“We are really glad that All American Wash is letting us do this,” she said.
