It has been a busy two years for members of the Addis family as the next generation has taken over the longtime Fairbury business and another store was acquired during this time.
Nate Addis and his wife, Kiley, took over Addis Auto Parts in Fairbury on Jan. 1, 2022 and purchased the former Gilman Auto Parts a year later. The two stores are referred to as “NAPA Fairbury” and “NAPA Gilman” under the Addis Auto Parts, Inc. umbrella.
“Everything has been going great,” Addis told Fairbury News. “We are getting the new operation figured out between two locations but we have a great staff at both stores.”
The Ferris mower line has been introduced to the Fairbury store.
“We’ve already brought in the Aluma, Liberty and Haulmark lines into Fairbury as well as selling them over there. We also started carrying the Delta line of trailers,” notes Addis.
Those visiting the Addis Fairbury location will notice some changes to the front end as they have given it a facelift. Plus, a mechanic is available in Gilman who does mower and trailer work.
Addis had no plans to come back to the family business initially but when his wife graduated college, he had more schooling to complete and transferred here, telling his parents he needed a job in the meantime.
“Once I graduated, I just kind of fell in love with what I was doing,” Addis admits.
Addis’ grandfather, Chuck, started the business as an independent on Fairbury’s Main Street back in the 1960s. He built the current Fairbury store back in 1976 about the time Nate’s parents, Mike and Jodi, moved back to the area. Mike changed to NAPA products in 1985 and Nate returned to work at the business in 2002.
